
Interpreter services are used by the Probation Service where it is judged that in the best interests of the individual or of justice, it is necessary to use interpreter or translation skills to achieve necessary understanding.
These circumstances may arise in many circumstances, involving either the preparation of reports or the supervision of Offenders or in some cases Victims of crime.
The service may involve the attendance of the Interpreter in person or alternatively telephone translation or the translation of documents.
Potentially, the languages required are almost unlimited.
Interpreter communication across language and culture should be carried out consistently, competently and impartially, and that all those involved in the process should be clear about what is expected from it.
