The overall aim of the service is to provide a victim focused service to victims of sexual and violent offenders sentenced to a custodial sentence of 12 months or more.
The provider must be able to;
- Provide information to victims about the criminal justice process on an ongoing basis once an offender has been sentenced to a term of imprisonment of 12 months or more for a sexual or violent offence;
- Provide the opportunity for victims to give their views on proposed conditions surrounding the offenders’ release;
- Inform the victims of any conditions of release which relate to contact with the victim;
- Inform and seek the victim’s agreement to any special victim protection arrangements which are proposed;
- Receive and act upon information from victims and their families about breaches of release conditions
- Ensure all risk issues associated with the offenders, the victim of which are recipients of this service, are identified and managed appropriately.
- Ensure that all the needs of the victims are identified and managed appropriately.
- Ensure that the diversity needs victims are planned for
- Work in collaboration with other stakeholders such as: (Offender Management, Prisons, and Police) involved in the delivery of services to victims
- Work in partnership with a range of other providers in voluntary, statutory and private organisations to form an integrated system of services that will meet victims immediate and longer term needs, the needs of the wider community.
